HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 123
BY REPRESENTATIVES KLECKLEY AND DANAHAY
COMMENDATIONS: Commends Davante Lewis upon his election as president of the
Student Government Association at McNeese State University
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Davante Lewis of Southwest Louisiana upon his election as president in the2
McNeese State University student government elections in the spring of 2012.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Davante Lewis on his success in the 20124
McNeese State University student body presidential election; and5
WHEREAS, with his victory, Mr. Lewis is the youngest student body president in6
McNeese State University history; and7
WHEREAS, since his victory, Mr. Lewis has been unanimously elected chairperson8
of the Louisiana Council of Student Body Presidents by all collegiate student body9
presidents in the state of Louisiana; and 10
WHEREAS, in addition to being student body president, Mr. Lewis holds the title11
of Pi Kappa Delta Public Forum Debate Speaking Champion and Student Congress12
Champion and was the 2008 National Catholic Forensic League National Champion in13
Oratorical Declamation Speaking; and14
WHEREAS, Davante Lewis merits a special measure of commendation for the noble15
and exemplary strides he has already begun to take on behalf of his fellow students at16
McNeese State University and throughout Louisiana.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the18
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Davante Lewis upon his election as19
president in the McNeese State University student government elections in the spring of20
2012, does hereby express enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that he brings to21 HLS 12RS-4742 ORIGINAL

his family and friends, McNeese State University, and the state of Louisiana, and does1
hereby extend to him best wishes for success as president of the diverse and dynamic student2
body of McNeese State University.3
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted4
to Davante Lewis.5
