HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 144

COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Robert Williamson upon his induction into the La.
Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Robert Williamson upon his induction into the Louisiana Athletic Trainers'2
Association Hall of Fame.3
WHEREAS, Robert Williamson's more than thirty years of service as an4
extraordinary athletic trainer in the state of Louisiana will be rewarded when he is inducted5
into the Louisiana Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame on June 8, 2012, at the Hilton6
Garden Inn in West Monroe; and7
WHEREAS, Mr. Williamson is a graduate of Pineville High School and Northeast8
Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), where he earned9
a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education in 1981 and a master of10
education degree in 1983; and11
WHEREAS, Mr. Williamson began his career at ULM in 1977 as a student trainer12
and later advanced to the position of graduate assistant before becoming the full-time13
assistant trainer in 1983; and14
WHEREAS, Mr. Williamson served as a part-time member of the ULM faculty in15
the department of kinesiology before giving up his athletic trainer duties in 2008 to become16
a full-time faculty member; and17
WHEREAS, in addition to serving as a full-time faculty member, Mr. Williamson18
also serves as director of the ULM Child Development Center and executive director of the19

WHEREAS, among Robert Williamson's accolades is his Charlie Martin Athletic1
Training Service Award from the Louisiana Athletic Trainers' Association; and2
WHEREAS, Mr. Williamson merits a place in the Louisiana Athletic Trainers'3
Association Hall of Fame because of his continuous and tireless dedication to the athletic4
training profession in the state of Louisiana, for his commitment to ULM and the community5
it serves, and for providing athletic training health care to the student-athletes at ULM for6
more than thirty years; and7
WHEREAS, Mr. Williamson's induction this summer will bring the number of ULM8
trainers in the Louisiana Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame to three; he joins9
Charlie Martin and Rickey Mestayer, under both of whom Mr. Williamson served during10
their years at ULM; and 11
WHEREAS, Robert Williamson merits a sincere measure of commendation for his12
outstanding achievements and singular contributions as an educator, athletic trainer, and13
citizen in the state of Louisiana.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the15
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Robert Williamson upon being inducted in16
to the Louisiana Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame, does hereby recognize and17
record for posterity his exceptional career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and does18
hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he brings to19
his family, friends, and community, the city of Monroe, and the state of Louisiana.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted21
to Robert Williamson.22
