COMMENDATIONS: Commends the West Monroe High School football team for winning
the 2011 Class 5A state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the West Monroe High School football team upon winning the 2011 Class 5A2
state football championship game in the Louisiana Superdome in the Louisiana High3
School Athletic Association State Farm Prep Classic.4
WHEREAS, West Monroe's victory in the State Farm Prep Classic was the5
culmination of an unforgettable season during which the Rebels defeated thirteen highly6
talented opponents and suffered only two defeats on the road to the title; and7
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved8
without the guidance and skills of head coach Don Shows as well as all of the other9
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's football program; and 10
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2011 season upholds the glorious tradition of the11
Rebels, and all West Monroe High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and12
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state; and13
WHEREAS, with this victory, Class 5A West Monroe joins 2011 Class 1A14
champions, Ouachita Christian High School, and Class 4A champions, Neville High School,15
in bringing pride and honor to northeast Louisiana.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the17
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the West Monroe High School football team18
upon winning the 2011 Class 5A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to19
the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine football program as they celebrate20

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted1
to Don Shows, head coach of the West Monroe High School football team.2
