HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 165
BY REPRESENTATIVES BARROW, CHAMPAGNE, HI LL, HODGES, KATRINA
JACKSON, NANCY LANDRY, MORENO, NORTON, SMITH, ST. GERMAIN,
THIERRY, AND WHITNEY
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Jacqui Vines on her work with the La. Legislative
Women's Caucus and for her commitment to the development and advancement of
women and children in La.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines of Baton Rouge on her work with the Louisiana2
Legislative Women's Caucus and for her commitment to the development and3
advancement of women and children in Louisiana.4
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines for her5
commitment to the development and advancement of women and children in Louisiana and6
to recognize her vital contributions to the citizens of Louisiana as an active and dedicated7
community servant; and8
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines graduated from the University of Redlands with a bachelor9
of science degree in business administration and management, and she is the mother of three10
daughters, Raven, Maya, and Breyaunna; and11
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines has nearly thirty years of experience in the12
telecommunications industry; she began her career with Time Warner Cable in Dublin,13
Ohio; she served as Cox's director of human resources in New Orleans, and she also served14
as vice president and general manager for the Baton Rouge market; she then served as vice15
president and regional manager for Cox Greater Louisiana; she currently serves as senior16
vice president and general manager for Cox Louisiana; and17 HLS 12RS-5222	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, it was recently announced that Ms. Vines will take the helm of Cox's1
Southeast Region, a combined Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia system, effective January2
2013; and 3
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines was previously a member of Cox's national Diversity Council4
and Blueprint Louisiana and the boards of Louisiana State University's Tiger Athletic5
Foundation, the Baton Rouge Chamber, and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation; she served6
as chair of the Louisiana Cable Telecommunications Association and on a special7
commission empaneled by Governor Bobby Jindal to make recommendations pertaining to8
higher education, and she has served on search committees for leadership positions at9
Louisiana State University, Southern University, and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber; and10
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines is currently a member of the Baton Rouge Rotary, the11
Committee of 100, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Women in Cable and12
Telecommunications, the National Association of Minorities in Cable, the Louisiana Cable13
Telecommunications Association, Greater New Orleans, Inc., the New Orleans Pro Bono14
Project, the Business Council of New Orleans, and the Regions Bank Regional Advisory15
Board, and she serves as the president of the La Capitale Chapter of The Links, Inc.; and16
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines has been honored with the 2011 Louisiana Legislative17
Women's Caucus Women of Excellence Award in the category of media and public relations18
for her outstanding professional achievements, highly productive community service,19
exhibition of integrity and professionalism, personification of excellence in her area of20
specialty, and commitment to better society as a whole; and21
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines has received many other honors, including the 2010 Virgil22
Evans Lifetime Achievement Award from the Louisiana Cable Telecommunications23
Association, the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 Most Influential Minorities in Cable Award24
from Cable360, the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award from 100 Black Men of Baton Rouge25
in 2006, and the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge's Women of Achievement Award in 2004;26
and27
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for28

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the1
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines of Baton Rouge2
for her work with the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus and for her commitment to the3
development and advancement of women and children in Louisiana, does hereby recognize4
and record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of Louisiana as an active5
and dedicated community servant, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the6
tremendous honor and pride that she brings to her family and friends, the city of Baton7
Rouge, and the state of Louisiana.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted9
to Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines.10
