BY REPRESENTATIVE FOIL
PROCUREMENT: Urges and requests the division of administration, office of state
purchasing, to report on the status of the implementation of laws relative to the
purchase and use of state vehicles that are capable of and equipped for using an
alternative fuel
A RESOLUTION1
To urge and request the division of administration, office of state purchasing, to report on2
the status of the implementation of R.S. 39:364, relative to the purchase and use of3
certain fleet vehicles which are capable of and equipped for using an alternative fuel,4
and present such report to the House Appropriations Committee no later than5
December 31, 2012.6
WHEREAS, R.S. 39:364 was enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana in the 19907
Regular Session and provided for the purchase or lease of fleet vehicles that are capable of8
or equipped for using an alternative fuel; and9
WHEREAS, R.S. 39:394 was amended by the Legislature of Louisiana in the 200810
Regular Session to include the use of hybrid vehicles in the state fleet; and11
WHEREAS, state monies can be saved by the use of such vehicles through cheaper12
fueling and maintenance costs; and13
WHEREAS, Louisiana is a leading producer of several alternative fuels including14
liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the16
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the division of administration, office17
of state purchasing, to report on the status of the implementation of R.S. 39:364, relative to18
the purchase and use of certain fleet vehicles which are capable of and equipped for using19 HLS 12RS-5218 ORIGINAL

an alternative fuel, since enactment of the law in 1990 and further since the law was1
amended in 2008.2
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the division of administration, office of state3
purchasing, shall present such report to the House Appropriations Committee no later than4
December 31, 2012.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the6
commissioner of administration and the director of the office of state purchasing.7
