COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Hazel M. Grines of Alexandria upon her 100
th
 birthday
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate Hazel M. Grines on the momentous occasion of her one2
hundredth birthday.3
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the4
historic and memorable occasion of Hazel Grines' one hundredth birthday on March 3, 2012;5
and6
WHEREAS, Mrs. Grines was born on March 3, 1912, in Pineville and worked7
throughout her life as a housekeeper; and8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Grines is currently the eldest member of Rose of Sharon Baptist9
Church in Alexandria; and10
WHEREAS, Mrs. Grines enjoys taking walks, eating, and sleeping; and11
WHEREAS, Mrs. Grines merits a special measure of commendation for the12
tremendous pride and honor that she brings to the city of Alexandria, the state of Louisiana,13
and all who know and love her; and14
WHEREAS, the strength of our communities and the overall vitality of American15
society depend upon people like Hazel Grines who, during her one hundred years, has16
accomplished much and made numerous contributions to help others.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the18
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Hazel B. Grines on the19
occasion of her one hundredth birthday and for her lifetime of commitment and devotion to20

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Hazel1
M. Grines.2
