CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Frank Maddie of Simmesport
A RESOLUTION1
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Frank Maddie of2
Simmesport.3
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Frank5
Maddie on March 9, 2012; and6
WHEREAS, Mr. Maddie owned Maddie's One Stop in Simmesport for more than7
forty-five years and was employed by Avoyelles Parish Schools as a bus driver for twenty-8
five years; and9
WHEREAS, Mr. Maddie was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the10
American Legion-Bordelonville Unit, and he was active with the Boy Scouts of America for11
more than fifty years; and12
WHEREAS, Mr. Maddie's contributions to Scouting included establishing the first13
Catholic Committee on Scouting in 1983 and developing the Religious Fellowship14
Committee in 1985; and15
WHEREAS, Mr. Maddie received many honors throughout his lifetime, including16
both the Bronze Pelican and St. George awards from the Boy Scouts of America, the Vigil17
Honor from the Lodge Order of the Arrow in 1962, and having the dining hall at Camp18

WHEREAS, Mr. Maddie was preceded in death by his father, Sam Maddie, and1
mother, Rosie Torina Maddie; and2
WHEREAS, Mr. Maddie is survived by his wife, Gladys; his sons, Samuel (Tommy)3
and wife Cindy, William (Bill) and wife Leslie; sisters, Annie Ducote and Rosie Collette;4
five grandchildren, Mary Allen Maddie, Shelby Maddie, Natalie Maddie, Lindsey Dauzat,5
and Brooke Martel; and one great-grandchild, Jordan Stout; and6
WHEREAS, although the death of Frank Maddie has left a tremendous void in his7
community, his memory shall live long in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the9
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the10
death of Frank Maddie of Simmesport and does hereby recognize and record his lifelong11
commitment to the devoted service of his family, friends, church, community, and country.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted13
to the family of Frank Maddie.14
