HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 50
BY REPRESENTATIVE LEOPOLD
A RESOLUTION
To commend the organizers and volunteers of the Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood
Festival.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the organizers and volunteers of the
Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival, held annually in May in Belle Chasse,
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival celebrates the
rich heritage of the people of Plaquemines Parish; and
WHEREAS, the inaugural Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival was
held on Memorial Day weekend in 2005, and already it has evolved into a beloved tradition
for the people of Plaquemines Parish and beyond; and
WHEREAS, the Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival is a family
friendly event featuring the parish's signature seafood and other local food specialties, live
music from popular local bands, traditional Cajun music, crafts from local artisans, carnival
rides, tank fishing, sandbagging contests, helicopter rides, the Seafood Queen pageant, and
other memorable activities; and
WHEREAS, Eden Bubrig, a young woman of many gifts and talents, serves with
great distinction and dedication as the 2011 Seafood Queen; and 
 WHEREAS, the festival's organizers and volunteers have persevered through several
hurricanes as well as the 2010 oil spill, earning the respect, admiration, and enduring
appreciation of their fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, the organizers and volunteers of the Plaquemines Parish Heritage and
Seafood Festival merit a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for the tremendous
pride and honor that this wonderful annual event brings to the citizens of Louisiana. ENROLLEDHR NO. 50

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the organizers and volunteers of the
Plaquemines Parish Heritage and Seafood Festival and does hereby recognize this
extraordinary festival as an integral part of the culture and history of Plaquemines Parish and
the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Sharon Hinkley.
