COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Scotlandville Magnet High School boys basketball
team upon winning the 2012 Class 5A state championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Scotlandville Magnet High School boys' basketball team upon winning the2
2012 Class 5A state championship.3
WHEREAS, the Scotlandville Magnet High School boys' basketball team completed4
a sensational season, earning the title of 2012 Class 5A state champions after defeating5
McKinley High School by a score of 82-48 to win the state championship game on Friday,6
March 9, at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston; and7
WHEREAS, the historic victory was the culmination of another unforgettable season8
for the Hornets; and9
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence10
throughout the 2011-2012 season and playoffs, and each of these Hornets deserves11
recognition for his vital contribution to the winning effort; and12
WHEREAS, the Hornets were led by Cleveland Thomas, who earned the title of13
Most Outstanding Player for the championship game; and14
WHEREAS, the Hornets' amazing accomplishments could not have been achieved15
without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Carlos Sample, Assistant Coach Marcus16
Bradford, and Assistant Coach Jeremy Noah, as well as all of the other individuals who have17
contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and18
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2011-2012 season upholds the glorious tradition19
of the Hornets, and all Scotlandville Magnet High School alumni and fans recognize the20 HLS 12RS-2915 ORIGINAL

immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and1
state.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the3
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Scotlandville Magnet High School boys'4
basketball team upon winning the 2012 Class 5A state championship and does hereby extend5
best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine basketball program6
as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.7
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted8
to Coach Carlos Sample.9
