SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Wednesday, April 18, 2012, as Shale Day
at the capitol and commends the La. oil and gas industry
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Louisiana oil and gas industry and recognize Wednesday, April 18, 2012,2
as Shale Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.3
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and gratitude that the Louisiana House of4
Representatives commends the Louisiana oil and gas industry for the contributions it has5
made to the economy of the state of Louisiana and to the prosperity of its citizens; and6
WHEREAS, Shale Day at the Louisiana State Capitol is an annual event where the7
oil and gas industry gathers to celebrate the abundant shale resources within the state8
including the Haynesville Shale, the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, and the Brown Dense; and9
WHEREAS, on Shale Day, companies in the oil and gas industry from around the10
state offer educational literature, scale models, photos, and videos from the oil and gas field11
to help bring awareness to the industry; and 12
WHEREAS, the oil and gas industry will certainly continue to produce consumer-13
ready resources, create thousands of jobs for our workforce, and remain committed to the14
safety of our communities and the preservation of the environment with which we have been15
entrusted.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the17
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana oil and gas industry for its18
contributions to the state and its citizens and does hereby recognize Wednesday, April 18,19
