CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Marilynn Larson Bordelon of
Bunkie
A RESOLUTION1
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Marilynn Larson Bordelon2
of Bunkie.3
WHEREAS, it is with sincere regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of5
Marilynn Larson Bordelon on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the age of eighty-eight; and6
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon was born in Chicago, moved to New Orleans with her7
family in 1932, and later resided in Marksville before moving to Bunkie; and8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon attended Louisiana State University, graduated from the9
University of Alabama with a degree in institutional management, and completed a dietetic10
internship at the University of Michigan; and11
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon served the people of her state by being an active12
participant in her community as a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Bunkie, member13
and past president of the Marksville Garden Club, member of the Louisiana Garden Club14
Federation, protocol chairman and past president of the Eighth District Flower Show Judges15
Council, past president of the Landscape Design Council, member of the Founding of16
Marksville Celebration committee in 1959, 1969, and 1979, and queen of the 198917
celebration, and past board member of Camp Hardtner; and18
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Filmore P.19
Bordelon, Jr.; two daughters, Marilynn "Lynn" Gilly and Margaret "Peggy" Waguespack;20

WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon is survived by her daughter, Marjorie B. Melancon and1
husband, Danny; son, Filmore "Fil" Paul Bordelon III and wife, Sara; eight grandchildren,2
Leigh Gilly and wife, Lisa, Martin Gilly and wife, Mary Margaret, Andrew Gilly and wife,3
Brandy, Stuart Gilly and wife, Kim, Daniel Melancon and wife, Beth, David Melancon and4
wife, Meredith, Lori Broussard and husband, Michael, and Filmore "Paul" Bordelon IV and5
wife, Natalie; eleven great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Chris St. Clair and Marilynn6
Yeghiazarian; and7
WHEREAS, although the death of Mrs. Bordelon has left a tremendous void in her8
community, her memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who loved her and9
had the pleasure of knowing her.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the11
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the12
death of Marilynn Larson Bordelon of Bunkie, does hereby record for posterity her13
outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring14
appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that this wonderful woman will forever15
bring to her family, friends, community, and state.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted17
to the family of Marilynn Larson Bordelon.18
