HLS 12RS-1546 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 7 BY REPRESENTATIVE LEGER COMMENDATIONS: Commends Harry Lee Sluss of New Orleans upon his 102 nd birthday A RESOLUTION1 To commend Harry Lee Sluss of New Orleans on the occasion of his one hundred second2 birthday.3 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the House of Representatives of the4 Legislature of Louisiana commends Harry Lee Sluss upon the momentous occasion of his5 one hundred second birthday; and 6 WHEREAS, born on March 30, 1910, Mr. Sluss still attends church at Watson7 Memorial Teaching Ministry in New Orleans, where he enjoys singing; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss had six children with his first wife, the late Ethel Sluss, and9 has been married to Charline Sluss since 1984; and10 WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss is a builder and electrician licensed by the state of California;11 and12 WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss is an honorable citizen who takes pleasure in helping13 members of his community; and14 WHEREAS, the city of New Orleans is lucky to have an extraordinary man like15 Mr. Sluss, who is undoubtedly among the few centenarians who still sing and dance; and16 WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss merits a special measure of commendation for the tremendous17 pride and honor that he brings to the city of New Orleans, the state of Louisiana, and all who18 know and love him.19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the20 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Harry Lee Sluss of New Orleans upon the21 HLS 12RS-1546 ORIGINAL HR NO. 7 Page 2 of 2 momentous occasion of his one hundred second birthday, does hereby recognize and record1 the extraordinary life he has lived in the one hundred two years since his birth, does hereby2 extend enduring gratitude for the contributions he has made to his community and his3 family, and does hereby wish him full measures of happiness in the years to come.4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted5 to Harry Lee Sluss.6 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
