ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 81 BY REPRESENTATIVE HENRY BURNS A RESOLUTION To commend Ethan Pease of Haughton upon his selection as the state winner in the fifth annual Doodle 4 Google contest. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Ethan Pease of Haughton for his extraordinary artistic achievements; and WHEREAS, Ethan Pease was selected from among one hundred fourteen thousand entries nationwide as the state winner for Louisiana in the fifth annual Doodle 4 Google contest, which requires participants to artfully render Google's homepage logo; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pease, an eighth grader, responded to the contest's theme, "If I could travel in time, I'd visit..." by responding, "I'd visit the Italian Renaissance. I would meet masters of art, such as Da Vinci and Michelangelo. Enjoy the Tower of Pisa before it leaned. I might see the Carnevale and enjoy the fireworks at night or visit Galileo and look at the stars"; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pease's excellent design uses graphic images of Galileo, an artist's palette, the Mona Lisa, a pie of pizza, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa to spell out "G-O-O-G- L-E"; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pease's doodle now enters into competition with participants nationwide; the participant who receives the most votes between May second and May tenth will not only have the winning doodle featured on United States Google.com and be recognized in an awards ceremony in New York City on May 17, 2012, but will also received a thirty thousand dollar college scholarship, a computer and digital tablet, and a five thousand dollar technology stipend; and WHEREAS, Ethan Pease merits a special measure of commendation for his artistic achievements and for bringing recognition to the immense potential that lies within the youth of this great state. ENROLLEDHR NO. 81 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Ethan Pease of Haughton upon his selection as the state of Louisiana winner in the fifth annual Doodle 4 Google contest, does hereby recognize Mr. Pease for his outstanding accomplishments, and does hereby extend to him full measures of success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
