HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 89

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences upon the death of Barbara "Bobbie" Heitmeier
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the House of Representatives of the2
Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Barbara May "Bobbie" Heitmeier and to3
celebrate a life well lived in service to her family, to God, and to her community.4
WHEREAS, it is with great sorrow that the House of Representatives of the5
Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing of Bobbie Heitmeier on May 4, 2012, at6
the age of eighty-six; and7
WHEREAS, she was born Barbara May Cargol on March 21, 1926, to Francis and8
Florence B. Cargol; and9
WHEREAS, she was a gentlewoman of abundant social grace and effervescence and10
the beloved wife of the late Dewey J. Heitmeier during their union of almost sixty years; and11
WHEREAS, together, "Ms. Bobbie" and "Mr. Dewey" were quite the happy duo; the12
couple were fixtures in and around Algiers, Louisiana, and rarely seen apart; their home was13
always bustling with activity, and Bobbie welcomed friends and family; and14
WHEREAS, their lives together were focused on the rearing of three very successful15
sons, Francis, Robert, and David; she gave them fortitude and wings; and16
WHEREAS, Bobbie Heitmeier was employed for many years by the Second City17
Court of Orleans Parish Civil District Court, until her retirement; and18
WHEREAS, Bobbie Heitmeier was a cherished and devoted mother, grandmother,19
and great-grandmother whose love of family was of the utmost importance in her life; and20 HLS 12RS-3948	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, she is survived by her children, Francis and his wife, Rai Lynn, Robert1
"Bobby" and his wife, Patricia, and David and his wife, Cathy; her grandchildren, Cory,2
Cody, Blake, Leah, Kurt, Meghan, and Ross Heitmeier; and one great-grandchild, Nolan3
Heitmeier; and4
WHEREAS, Bobbie Heitmeier worked tirelessly for the benefit of others and5
devoted her life of unselfish service to God as a true steward of her faith as a member of the6
Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church; and7
WHEREAS, upon her death, the Algiers community lost a most unique individual8
who has imparted an indelible mark upon the lives of all those who knew her and who9
benefitted from her love and generosity of spirit; and10
WHEREAS, Bobbie Heitmeier will be remembered for her friendly demeanor, her11
compassion for others, her smile, her kindness, and her steadfast devotion to her loved ones.12
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the13
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences upon the death of14
Barbara May "Bobbie" Heitmeier, beloved wife and mother, and does hereby commemorate15
a life well spent in benevolent service to others.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature17
of Louisiana does hereby pay tribute to the remarkable legacy that shall live on in the hearts18
of those she touched with her grace.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the20
sons of Mrs. Bobbie Heitmeier, Senator David Heitmeier, former Senator Francis Heitmeier,21
and Captain Robert Heitmeier.22
