A RESOLUTION1
To recognize Tuesday, May 22, 2012, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.2
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the volunteers and members of the3
Louisiana YMCAs and to recognize Tuesday, May 22, 2012, as YMCA Day in Louisiana;4
and5
WHEREAS, the commitment of the YMCA is to nurture the potential of kids,6
promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and7
WHEREAS, the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility8
unite citizens as a movement and guide individuals' behavior, interactions with each other,9
and decisionmaking; and 10
WHEREAS, in Louisiana YMCAs, more than one hundred thousand children and11
adults throughout the state have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow, and thrive;12
and13
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated,14
community-based strategies for serving children and families; and15
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to16
provide developmental programs for children and youth, strengthen families, and mobilize17
and coordinate broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet18

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs are1
meeting in the Louisiana State Capitol with their state representatives and senators to discuss2
and exchange ideas on issues facing youth and families.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the4
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Tuesday, May 22, 2012, as YMCA Day in5
Louisiana and does hereby commend the members and volunteers of Louisiana's YMCAs6
for their dedication to families throughout the state.7
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted8
to the chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.9
