HLS 12RS-1956 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 96 BY REPRESENTATIVE KLECKLEY COMMENDATIONS: Commends Mary Ann Freeman upon her retirement after a long career of dedicated public service, culminating in her service as executive assistant to the Speaker of the House A RESOLUTION1 To commend Mary Ann Freeman upon her retirement after a long career of dedicated public2 service, culminating in her service as executive assistant to the Speaker of the3 Louisiana House of Representatives.4 WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation5 be extended to Mary Ann Freeman for an outstanding career in public service; and6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Freeman has shared her time and efforts with her state since7 January of 1980, when she began working in the office of Attorney General Billy Guste; and8 WHEREAS, in 1989, Mrs. Freeman joined the staff of the governor's office, serving9 under governors Buddy Roemer and Edwin W. Edwards as an administrative assistant; and10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Freeman joined the staff of the House on January 8, 1996, as a11 special assistant to Speaker H.B. "Hunt" Downer, and she continued to serve in this position12 under speakers Charlie DeWitt and Joe Salter; in January of 2008, she was promoted to the13 position of executive assistant to the speaker, and she served with distinction under speakers14 Jim Tucker and Chuck Kleckley in this vital position until her retirement; and15 WHEREAS, upon her retirement, Mrs. Freeman will be greatly missed by the16 members and staff of the Louisiana House of Representatives, who will continue to respect17 and admire her and value her friendship; and18 WHEREAS, Mary Ann Freeman will remain an inspiration to her fellow citizens for19 the vital contributions she has made in her career of very effective public service, and she20 HLS 12RS-1956 ORIGINAL HR NO. 96 Page 2 of 2 merits the highest commendation and sincere congratulations for her exemplary term of1 service and for her singular contributions to the state, whose citizens will long reap the2 benefits of her legacy of excellence and professionalism.3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the4 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Mary Ann Freeman upon her retirement5 after a long career of dedicated public service, culminating in her service as executive6 assistant to the Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives, does hereby record for7 posterity her noble accomplishments and the exemplary strides she has taken during more8 than three decades of highly productive public service, does hereby express gratitude for her9 many years of distinguished service and for the able assistance she has given to the House,10 its members, and staff, does hereby pay tribute to her for the generous way in which she has11 dedicated her intelligence and her energy to the service of her state, does hereby express to12 her enduring appreciation for the deep sense of pride and honor she brings to the House, to13 the legislature, and to the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend to her every good wish14 for success and happiness in all of her future endeavors.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted16 to Mary Ann Freeman.17 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
