study relative to landlord and tenant obligations
A STUDY REQUEST1
To the House Committee on Civil Law and Procedure to study proposed legislation relative2
to landlord and tenant obligations and to report its findings to the House of3
Representatives prior to the convening of the 2013 Regular Session of the4
Legislature of Louisiana.5
WHEREAS, many issues frequently arise regarding landlord and tenant obligations6
affecting such aspects as rental agreements, habitability, notice to tenants, foreclosures,7
rights of access, and the available remedies associated with each of these issues; and8
WHEREAS, ordinances in other cities, such as Chicago, Illinois, have been adopted9
to address these landlord and tenant issues in a comprehensive manner.10
THEREFORE, the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana requests11
the House Committee on Civil Law and Procedure to study proposed legislation relative to12
landlord and tenant obligations and to report its findings to the House of Representatives13
prior to the convening of the 2013 Regular Session of the Legislature of Louisiana.14
