SEX OFFENSES.  Provides relative to the registration of sex offenders.  (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 15:541(2)(k) and (25)(f), relative to the registration of sex2
offenders; to provide relative to certain definitions; and to provide for related3
matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 15:541(2)(k) and (25)(f) are hereby amended and reenacted to read6
as follows: 7
ยง541. Definitions8
For the purposes of this Chapter, the definitions of terms in this Section shall9
apply:10

(2) "Aggravated offense" means a conviction for the perpetration or12
attempted perpetration of, or conspiracy to commit, any of the following:13

(k) Molestation of a juvenile or a person with a physical or mental15
disability prosecuted under the provisions of R.S. 14:81.2(D)(1) R.S. 14:81.2(C)(1)16

(25) "Sexual offense against a victim who is a minor" means a conviction for2
the perpetration or attempted perpetration of, or conspiracy to commit, any of the3
following:4

(f) Molestation of a juvenile or a person with a physical or mental6
disability (R.S. 14:81.2), except when prosecuted under the provisions of R.S.7
14:81.2(D)(1) R.S. 14:81.2(C)(1) and (D)(2).8

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not10
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature11
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If12
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become13
effective on the day following such approval.14

DIGEST
Present law provides definitions relative to sex offenses and the registration of sex offenders.
Proposed law makes changes to certain present law definitions relative to the registration of
sex offenders in order to conform to certain provisions of present law relative to sex
offenses.
Proposed law otherwise retains present law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
