PHARMACISTS.  Exempts the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy from the limitations on
disciplinary proceedings by professional or occupational boards and commissions. (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:21(B)(7), relative to limitations on disciplinary proceedings by2
professional or occupational boards and commissions; to provide an exemption for3
the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy; to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 37:21(B)(7) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง21. Limitations on disciplinary proceedings by professional or occupational boards7
and commissions8

B. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to the following:10

(7) The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.12
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not13
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature14
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If15
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become16
effective on the day following such approval.17 SB NO. 124

DIGEST
Present law provides limitations on disciplinary proceedings by professional or occupational
boards and commissions.
Present law does not apply to:
(1)A physician licensed to practice medicine.
(2)A dentist, dental hygienist, or any person practicing dentistry or dental hygiene with
or without a license.
(3)A certified public accountant.
(4)The Louisiana Cemetery Board.
(5)The Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.
(6)The Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology.
Proposed law maintains present law and adds the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy to the boards
and commissions that the present law does not apply.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
