PHARMACISTS.  Exempts the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and the Louisiana State Board
of Nursing from the limitations on disciplinary proceedings by professional or occupational
boards and commissions. (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:21(B)(7) and (8), relative to limitations on disciplinary proceedings by2
professional or occupational boards and commissions; to provide an exemption for3
the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing; and to4
provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 37:21(B)(7) and (8) are hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง21. Limitations on disciplinary proceedings by professional or occupational boards8
and commissions9

B. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to the following:11

(7) The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.13
(8) The Louisiana State Board of Nursing.14
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not15
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature16
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If17 SB NO. 124

vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become1
effective on the day following such approval.2

Present law provides limitations on disciplinary proceedings by professional or occupational
boards and commissions.
Present law does not apply to:
1. A physician licensed to practice medicine.
2. A dentist, dental hygienist, or any person practicing dentistry or dental hygiene with
or without a license.
3. A certified public accountant.
4. The Louisiana Cemetery Board.
5. The Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.
6. The Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology.
Proposed law retains present law and adds to list of exceptions the Louisiana Board of
Pharmacy and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
