FEES/LICENSES/PERMITS.  Provides relative to the Louisiana Professional Geoscience
Practice Act.  (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 37:711.15(A)(4)(b), and to repeal R.S. 37:711.4(D) relative to2
the Louisiana Professional Geoscience Practice Act; to provide for license eligibility;3
to provide for exemptions from examination requirements; to repeal certain4
prohibitions and limitations upon the receipt and use of state funds; and to provide5
for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 37:711.15(A)(4)(b) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as8
follows: 9
ยง711.15. License eligibility10
A. To be eligible for a license under this Chapter, an applicant shall meet the11
following minimum qualifications:12

(b) An applicant who applies for licensure under this Chapter prior to January15
1, 2012 2014, shall be exempt from taking the examination described in16
Subparagraph (a) of this Paragraph if the applicant satisfies all the requirements of17 SB NO. 128

Section 2.  R.S. 37:711.4(D) is hereby repealed.3
Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not4
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature5
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If6
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become7
effective on the day following such approval.8

DIGEST
Present law relative to the Louisiana Professional Geoscience Practice Act exempts an
applicant who applies for licensure under present law prior to January 1, 2012, from taking
the examination if he satisfies certain requirements contained in present law.
Proposed law extends such exemption period from January 1, 2012, to January 1, 2014.
Present law requires the Board of Professional Geoscientists to be financially self-sufficient.
Also prohibits the board from receiving state funds through appropriation or otherwise and
expenditure of any such state funds. Further provides that no state funds shall be expended
or committed to expenditure to the board for a group benefits program or any other health
insurance or employee benefit program, for any retirement system, for any salary, per diem
payment, travel or expenses, office supplies and materials, rent, purchase of any product or
service, or for any other purpose.
Proposed law repeals above present law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
