AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S.9:3306(9), relative to leases of movables; to provide with respect2
to definitions; to provide an exception for employer-sponsored lease programs; and3
to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 9:3306(9) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6

(9) "Consumer lease" means a lease to a consumer as defined in R.S.9
9:3306(8), provided that total compensation under the lease over the base lease term10
does not exceed twenty-five thousand dollars. Where total compensation under the11
lease exceeds twenty-five thousand dollars, the lease shall be considered a12
commercial lease for purposes of this Chapter.  A lease provided through an13
employer-sponsored lease program shall not be considered a consumer lease for14
the purposes of this Chapter.15

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not17
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature18
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If19
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become20
effective on the day following such approval.21
