HEALTH/HOSPITALS DEPT. Deletes references to supports and services centers and
employment service programs within the Department of Health and Hospitals that no longer

AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 28:22.8(A) and 451.4(B) and to repeal R.S. 28:894(A)(5) and2
R.S. 36:259(C)(15), (C)(17) through (C)(21), (C)(25), and (C)(26), relative to the3
Department of Health and Hospitals; to delete provisions related to certain supports4
and services centers and employment service programs no longer in existence; and5
to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 28:22.8(A) and 451.4(B) are hereby amended and reenacted to read8
as follows: 9
§22.8. State developmental centers 10
A. The names of the following state developmental centers for persons with11
developmental disabilities are designated as follows:12
(1) Greater New Orleans Supports and Services Center.13
(2) Bayou Region Supports and Services Center.14
(3)(1) Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.15
(4) Northeast Supports and Services Center.16
(5) Columbia Community Residential and Employment Services.17 SB NO. 145

B. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center, Northeast Supports and Services11
Center, Columbia Community Residential and Employment Services, Northwest12
Supports and Services Center, Leesville Residential and Employment Services,13
Acadiana Region Supports and Services Center, and North Lake Supports and14
Services Center, Greater New Orleans Supports and Services Center, Bayou Region15
Supports and Services Center, Acadiana Employmen t Services at Eunice, and16
Acadiana Employment Services at Opelousas are continued as administrative units17
of this office.18

Section 2. R.S. 28:894(A)(5) is hereby repealed.20
Section 3. R.S. 36:259(C)(15), (C)(17) through (C)(21), (C)(25), and (C)(26) are21
hereby repealed.22
Section 4. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not23
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature24
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If25
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become26
effective on the day following such approval.27 SB NO. 145

Proposed law amends present law to remove the names of seven OCDD facilities that have
been closed: Northeast Supports and Services Center, Bayou Region Supports and Services
Center, Columbia Community Residential and Employment Services, Greater New Orleans
Supports and Services Center, Acadiana Supports and Services Center, Acadiana
Employment Services at Eunice, and Acadiana Employment Services at Opelousas.
Proposed law repeals provisions of present law related to certain supports and services
centers and employment service programs no longer in existence.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
(Amends R.S. 28:22.8(A) and 451.4(B); repeals R.S. 28:894(A)(5) and R.S. 36:259(C)(15),
(C)(17) through (C)(21), (C)(25), and (C)(26))
