MOTOR VEHICLES. Provides for veteran designation on driver's license and identification

AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:412(K) and R.S. 40:1321(K), relative to veteran designation on a driver's2
license and identification card; to provide for the exhibition of the word "Veteran"3
on a driver's license and identification card; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 32:412(K) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
§412. Amount of fees; credit or refund; duration of license; veteran designation;7
disbursement of funds; renewal by mail or electronic commerce of8
Class "D" or "E" drivers' licenses; disposition of certain fees;9
exception10

K. Upon request, the word "Veteran" shall be exhibited in the color12
black below the person's photograph on the driver's license regardless of its13
class, upon presentation of a copy of the person's DD Form 214, issued by the14
United States Department of Defense. No additional fee shall be charged to15
include such designation. The deputy secretary of the Department of Public16

of this Subsection. The deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and1
Corrections, public safety services, shall establish rules and regulations as are2
necessary to implement the provisions of this Subsection.3
Section 2. R.S. 40:1321(K) is hereby enacted to read as follows:4
§1321. Special identification cards; issuance; veteran designation; fees; expiration5
and renewal; exceptions; promulgation of rules; promotion of use;6
persons less than twenty-one years of age; the Protect and Save our7
Children Program; Selective Service Registration8

K. Upon request, the word "Veteran" shall be exhibited in the color10
black below the person's photograph on an identification card, upon11
presentation of a copy of the person's DD Form 214, issued by the United States12
Department of Defense. No additional fee shall be charged to include such13
designation. The deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and14
