AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 27:302(A)(5)(o), relative to the operation of video draw poker2
devices; to provide for legislative approval of changes to the central computer3
system; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 27:302(A)(5)(o) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows: 7
ยง302. Description and specifications of devices8
A. Each video draw poker device shall:9

(5) Offer the game of draw poker or such other card games as are approved11
by the division and have the following method of operation:12

(o) The device must be linked by telecommunication to a central computer14
for purposes of polling or reading device activities and for central computer remote15
shutdown of device operations. However, if the central computer system fails as a16
result of a malfunction or catastrophic event, the device may remain in operation17
until the central computer system is restored.  The division shall obtain approval18
from the House Committee on the Administration of Criminal Justice and the19
Senate Committee on Judiciary B prior to awarding any new central computer20
system contract.21

Section 2. In the event Senate Bill 575 of the 2012 Regular Session is enacted into23
law, the Louisiana State Law Institute is hereby directed to redesignate R.S. 27:302(A)(5)(o)24
as amended in this Act as R.S. 27:405(B).25

Section 3. In the event of a conflict between the provisions of this Act and the1
provisions of the Act which originated as Senate Bill No. 575 of the 2012 Regular Session,2
the provisions of this Act shall prevail.3
