PROPERTY INSURANCE. Adds a representative of the La. Surplus Lines Association and
the Deputy Commissioner for Consumer Advocacy to the membership of the La. Property
and Casualty Commission. (8/1/12)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 22:2171(C)(8), relative to the Louisiana Property and Casualty Commission;2
to provide for the addition of representatives to the commission membership; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 22:2171(C)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง2171.  Louisiana Property and Casualty Insurance Commission7

C.  The commission shall consist of the following members:9

(2) The Deputy Commissioner for Consumer Advocacy.11

(8) A representative of the Louisiana Surplus Line Association, selected13
by its governing body, or his designee.14

Present law creates the Louisiana Property and Casualty Commission with the functions,
duties, and responsibilities of reviewing and examining the availability and affordability of
property and casualty insurance in the state.  Provides that members serve two-year terms.
Proposed law retains present law and adds a representative of the Louisiana Surplus Line
Association and the Deputy Commissioner for Consumer Advocacy to the membership of
the commission.
Effective August 1, 2012.
