Regular Session, 2012 SENATE BILL NO. 214 BY SENATOR MILLS PHARMACISTS. Eliminates the requirements of using written documents to meet certain qualifications and notifications by individuals engaging in the practice of pharmacy in Louisiana. (8/1/12) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:1202(A)(5), 1203(A)(5), 1207(B), 1213, 1214, and 1230(C),2 and to repeal R.S. 37:1215, relative to the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy; to provide3 with respect to certain qualifications to engage in the practice of pharmacy; to4 require submission of an application by any applicant for licensure by examination;5 to provide with respect to submission of an application by any applicant for licensure6 as a pharmacist by reciprocity; to provide for applications for certain renewals; to7 provide for certain notifications of change; to provide for certain permit renewal8 applications; to remove the requirement to display certain licenses, certificates, and9 registrations; and to provide for related matters.10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:11 Section 1. R.S. 37:1202(A)(5), 1203(A)(5), 1207(B), 1213, 1214, and 1230(C) are12 hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 13 §1202. Qualifications for licensure by examination14 A. Qualifications. In order for a pharmacist currently licensed in another jurisdiction to5 obtain a license as a pharmacist by reciprocity in this state, an applicant shall:6 * * *7 (5) Have submitted a written an application in the form prescribed by the8 board.9 * * *10 §1207. Renewal of license, registration, and certification; expiration; reinstatement11 * * *12 B. The board shall mail make available applications for renewal of licenses,13 registrations, and certificates to each licensed, registered, and certified person by a14 date designated by the board.15 * * *16 §1213. Notification of change of business place or employment17 A pharmacist, or pharmacy technician, pharmacy intern, or pharmacy18 technician candidate shall notify the board, in writing, of any change of19 employment within a time frame determined by the board by rule.20 §1214. Notification of change of address21 A pharmacist, pharmacy technician, or pharmacy intern, or pharmacy22 technician candidate shall notify the board, in writing, of a change of address23 within a time frame determined by the board by rule.24 * * *25 §1230. Board of Pharmacy to submit a written application in the time frame and form prescribed by board regulations in order to obtain a license to engage in the practice of pharmacy. Present law provides that in order for a pharmacist currently licensed in another jurisdiction to obtain a license as a pharmacist by reciprocity in Louisiana, such pharmacist must submit a written application in the form prescribed by the board. Proposed law deletes the written application requirements in present law and requires submission of an application. Present law requires the board to mail applications for the renewal of licenses, registrations, and certificates to each licensed, registered and certified person by a date designated by the board. Proposed law requires the board to make such renewal applications available to each licensed, registered, and certified person by a date designated by the board.
