PUBLIC PROPERTY. Authorizes McNeese State University to transfer certain state
property to the Chennault International Airport Authority. (8/1/12)
AN ACT1
To authorize McNeese State University to transfer certain state property to the Chennault2
International Airport Authority; to provide for the property description; to provide3
for reservation of mineral rights; to provide terms and conditions; and to provide for4
related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. McNeese State University, notwithstanding any other provision of7
law to the contrary, is hereby authorized and empowered to convey, transfer, assign,8
lease or deliver any interest, excluding mineral rights, the state may have to all or any9
portion of the following described parcel of property to the Chennault International10
Airport Authority:11
A certain tract of land, including all improvements located thereon,12
situated and lying South of the Right-of-Way Line of Old U.S. Highway 9013
(Broad Street), said point of commencement being located South 0 degrees14
13'36" East 40 feet and North 89 degrees 51' 38" East 1400.58 feet from the15
Northwest Corner of Section 2, Township 10 South, Range 8 West, Lake16
Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, said point of commencement also being17 SB NO. 219

the Northeast Corner of property sold by McNeese State University to Williams1
E. Slocum, Jr., and more particularly described as follows, to wit:2
Thence South 0 degrees 56' 31" West 984.81 feet more or less along the3
East Line of property sold by McNeese State University to William E. Slocum,4
Jr., and A.P. Leonards to the North Line of tract owned by the City of Lake5
Charles, Louisiana; Thence South 89 degrees 27'32" East 1312.22 feet along the6
North Line of property owned by the City of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Thence7
North 1 degree 06' 31" East 22.79 feet; Thence North 0 degrees 06' 29" West8
977.25 feet to the South Right-of-Way of Old U.S. Highway 90 (Broad Street);9
Thence South 89 degrees 51' 38" West 1294.22 feet along the South Right-of-10
Way Line of Old U.S. Highway 90 (Broad Street) to the point of commencement11
and containing 29.69 acres.12
Section 2. McNeese State University is hereby authorized to enter into such13
agreements, covenants, conditions, and stipulations and to execute such documents as14
are necessary to properly effectuate any conveyance, transfer, assignment, lease or15
delivery of title, excluding mineral rights, to the property described in Section 1 herein,16
and as more specifically described in any such agreement entered into and documents17
executed by and between McNeese State University and the Chennault International18
Airport Authority, in exchange of consideration proportionate to at least the appraised19
value of the property.20
