INSURANCE DEPARTMENT. Repeals the legislator exemption from continuing
education requirements for license renewal. (8/1/12)
AN ACT1
To repeal R.S. 22:1573(I)(1)(b),  relative to continuing education requirements; to repeal the2
legislator exemption from continuing education requirements for insurance license3
renewal; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 22:1573(I)(1)(b) is hereby repealed in its entirety. 6

DIGEST
Present law (R.S. 22:1547(C)(3)) requires each licensed insurance producer to comply with
continuing education requirements to be eligible for license renewal.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law exempts any person who is a member of the legislature, while that person is
serving a term in the legislature, from continuing education requirements for renewal of a
license.
Proposed law repeals the legislator exemption.
Effective August 1, 2012.
