MOTOR VEHICLES.  Provides relative to handlebars on motorcycles. (8/1/12)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 32:191.3(B), relative to motorcycles; to provide relative to2
handlebars on motorcycles; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 32:191.3(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 5

B. No person shall operate any motorcycle with handlebars 	more than fifteen8
inches in height above the portion of the seat occupied by the operator that require9
the hands of the operator to be above the operator's shoulder height when the10
operator is sitting astride the seat and the operator's hands are on the11

Present law provides that no person shall operate a motorcycle with handlebars more than
15 inches in height above the portion of the seat occupied by the operator.
Proposed law prohibits handlebars that require the hands of the operator to be above the
operator's shoulder height when the operator is sitting astride the seat and the operator's
hands are on the handlebar grips. 
Effective August 1, 2012.
