Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 98 BY SENATORS MORRELL AND GARY SMI TH AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 40:1510, relative to fire protection districts, municipal fire departments or2 volunteer fire departments; to allow expenditure of public funds in connection with3 certain activities; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 40:1510 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6 ยง1510. Expenditure of public funds for awards, recognition and meals7 Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, a fire protection8 district, municipal fire department, or volunteer fire department may expend9 public funds in connection with the following activities:10 (1) The purchase of a plaque, trophy, certificate, medal, or similar11 memento to acknowledge outstanding achievement or valiant act of personnel12 not to exceed one hundred dollars.13 (2) Meals, snacks or refreshments for firefighters involved in fire14 department related meetings, workshops, training programs, or performing of15 emergency services not to exceed twenty-five dollars per person.16 (3) The provisions of this Section shall not be construed to prohibit or17 restrict the use of public funds to pay or defray the reasonable expenses of18 travel and lodging required for attendance at any conference or convention for19 ACT No. 349 SB NO. 98 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 Coding: Words which are struck through are deletions from existing law; words in boldface type and underscored are additions. the purpose of educating or training fire department personnel with regard to1 their public duties and responsibilities.2 PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA APPROVED:
