SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 116

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To urge and request that the Department of Transportation and Development study LA 37,
between its intersection with Sullivan Road and its intersection with LA 409 (Liberty
Road) in East Baton Rouge Parish, to improve its safety to the traveling public.
WHEREAS, LA 37, between its intersection with Sullivan Road and its intersection
with LA 409 (Liberty Road) in East Baton Rouge Parish, has inadequate shoulders,
inadequate drainage, and numerous curves posing dangerous driving conditions to the
traveling public; and
WHEREAS, LA 37, between its intersection with Sullivan Road and its intersection
with LA 409 (Liberty Road) in East Baton Rouge Parish, has insufficient signage to warn
motorists of intersecting roadways; and
WHEREAS, numerous accidents, including accidents which resulted in serious
bodily injuries and fatalities, have occurred on LA 37, between its intersection with Sullivan
Road and its intersection with LA 409 (Liberty Road) in East Baton Rouge Parish.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
urge and request that the Department of Transportation and Development study LA 37,
between its intersection with Sullivan Road and its intersection with LA 409 (Liberty Road)
in East Baton Rouge Parish, to improve its safety to the traveling public.
BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED that the Department of Transportation and
Development submit a written report of its findings, recommendations, and actions taken,
if any, to the House and Senate committees on transportation, highways and public works
no later than March 1, 2013. SCR NO. 116 ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
