SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 134
BY SENATORS PERRY AND LAFLEUR
COMMENDATIONS. Commends the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth
Leadership seminars and recognizes June 15, 2012, as "Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership
Day" in the state of Louisiana.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and2
to recognize June 15, 2012, as "Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day" in the state of3
Louisiana.4
WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian, the Hollywood star who portrayed Wyatt Earp in the5
television series "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp", founded the Hugh O'Brian Youth6
Leadership Foundation in 1958; and7
WHEREAS, the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, also known as HOBY,8
organizes and promotes annual leadership seminars for thousands of high school sophomores9
throughout the United States and abroad; and10
WHEREAS, the objectives of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program are to11
seek out, recognize, develop, and reward leadership potential in high school students, to12
encourage and assist young people in their quests for self-identification and13
self-development, to host workshops for young people with recognized leaders in business,14
industry, government, science, and education, and to stimulate opportunities for young15
people to demonstrate their leadership abilities for the benefit of their communities and their16
country; and17
WHEREAS, to date, more than four hundred thousand students have completed the18 SCR NO. 134

Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program.1
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby2
commend the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and3
does hereby recognize June 15, 2012, as Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day in the state4
of Louisiana.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be transmitted to Cindy6
Bishop and Nial Patel, co-chairpersons of the Louisiana HOBY Leadership Seminar, and to7
Hugh O'Brian. 8
