SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 135

LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS. Designates May 31, 2012, as Retired State Employees
Association Day at the La. State Capitol and recognizes the establishment of the Retired
State Employees Association of La. Hall of Fame.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To designate May 31, 2012, as Retired State Employees Association Day at the Louisiana2
State Capitol and to recognize the establishment of the Retired State Employees3
Association of Louisiana Hall of Fame.4
WHEREAS, the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana was organized5
and established as a non-profit organization on November 14, 1966; and6
WHEREAS, it is an independent, membership-driven organization representing the7
men and women, and their families, who have retired or will retire from employment with8
the state of Louisiana; and9
WHEREAS, the mission of the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana10
is to advance the quality of life of current and future retired state employees who have given11
of their talents to the state of Louisiana; and12
WHEREAS, the objective of the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana13
is to make a significant difference in the lives and well-being of current and future retirees14
by protecting retirement and health benefits; securing cost-of-living adjustments; providing15
access to other needed benefits; and keeping members informed through newsletters, website16
access, annual chapter meetings, and the statewide annual conference; and17
WHEREAS, the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana takes an active18 SCR NO. 135

leadership role in the passage of legislation, and joins with the Louisiana State Employees1
Retirement System and the office of group benefits to support the passage of legislation2
which benefit retirees and active state employees; and3
WHEREAS, the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana Hall of Fame was4
established to recognize the contributions made by retired public servants to enhance the5
role, professionalism, image, and visibility of public service in Louisiana; and6
WHEREAS, it honors those public servants who have made significant contributions7
to the citizens of Louisiana through their public service and community involvement.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby9
designate May 31, 2012, as Retired State Employees Association Day at the Louisiana State10
Capitol and recognizes the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana Hall of Fame.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to12
executive director of the Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana, Frank L. Jobert13
Jr.14
