Constitution of the United States.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commemorate the 225th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United2
States.3
WHEREAS, the American Revolution secured the independence of the United States4
of America and made possible the vibrant system of self-government of the United States;5
and6
WHEREAS, the supporters of the American Revolution, through their vision and7
determination, enhanced the lives of countless individuals and made possible the system of8
equal justice, limited government, and the rule of law that exists in the United States; and9
WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States, a revered and living document,10
provides important rights to every citizen of the United States; secures ''the Blessings of11
Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity''; and sets the standard of democracy for the world;12
and13
WHEREAS, the Constitution and the subsequent twenty-seven amendments to the14
Constitution outline the freedoms and the principles of representative government that are15
as strong today as they were on that momentous occasion in 1787; and16
WHEREAS, September 17, 2012, marks the 225th anniversary of the signing of the17
Constitution of the United States and provides a historic opportunity for all Americans to18 SCR NO. 150

remember the achievements and vision of our Founding Fathers and to reflect on the actions1
and sacrifices of Americans, who, for the past two hundred twenty-five years, have defined2
the words of the Constitution by exercising their rights and responsibilities as citizens; and3
WHEREAS, the Constitution is fundamentally predicated on governance by "We the4
People", making citizen understanding of the Constitution and its framework an essential5
element of the future of our country and the civic health of its populace; and6
WHEREAS, members of organizations such as the Louisiana Society of the Sons of7
the American Revolution and the Louisiana Society, Daughters of the American Revolution8
play an important role in promoting patriotism, preserving the history of the United States,9
and educating the public about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana hereby11
commemorates the 225th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States12
on September 17, 2012.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all Louisiana citizens are urged and encouraged14
to renew and deepen their appreciation of the unique and precious heritage passed on to us15
in the wisdom and foresight of our Founders through the United States Constitution. 16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislature acknowledges the continuing17
contributions made by the members, volunteers, and staff of historical, educational, and18
patriotic societies of Louisiana, such as the Louisiana Society of the Sons of the American19
Revolution and the Louisiana Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, in promoting20
patriotism and the values embodied in the Constitution of the United States.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the22
Louisiana Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Louisiana Society,23
Daughters of the American Revolution.24
