SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 42
BY SENATOR PERRY 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Designates the city of Scott as the Boudin Capital of the
World.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To designate the city of Scott as the Boudin Capital of the World.2
WHEREAS, boudin, a delicacy of the Cajun culture, has long been made and sold3
in the city of Scott; and4
WHEREAS, there are numerous business establishments within the city of Scott5
which sell boudin; and6
WHEREAS, five of these business establishments within the city of Scott account7
for the manufacture and sale of over one million three hundred thousand pounds of boudin8
per year, and these stores employ approximately eighty-three employees; and 9
WHEREAS, sales of boudin in the city of Scott amount to approximately five million10
dollars per year; and11
WHEREAS, sales taxes generated from the sale of boudin result in substantial12
financial income to the city of Scott; and13
WHEREAS, the boudin prepared and sold in the city of Scott is the best-tasting14
boudin in the state of Louisiana and the world; and15
WHEREAS, due to the financial and cultural impact of boudin and the sale of boudin16
on the city and citizens of Scott, the city of Scott is in the process of establishing an annual17
boudin festival; and18 SCR NO. 42

WHEREAS, the city of Scott has long been known to its citizens and tourists as the1
Boudin Capital of the World.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby3
designate the city of Scott as the Boudin Capital of the World.4
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the5
mayor of Scott.6
