SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 47
BY SENATOR MARTINY 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends William Goldring as the recipient of the Times-Picayune
Loving Cup for 2011.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend William Goldring as the recipient of the Times-Picayune Loving Cup for2
2011.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and congratulate William Goldring upon4
being selected as the recipient of the Times-Picayune Loving Cup for 2011; and5
WHEREAS, the Times-Picayune Loving Cup, awarded annually since 1901,6
recognizes citizens who have worked unselfishly for the community without expectation of7
public acclaim or material reward; and 8
WHEREAS, Bill Goldring is the leader of foundations named for his family and9
Malcolm Woldenberg, his father's business partner, and has assisted many civic institutions10
throughout the greater New Orleans area and beyond to enrich religious, educational, artistic,11
and health-related initiatives, by donating millions, through his foundations, to the National12
World War II Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, Touro Infirmary, Temple Sinai,13
and many other organizations; and14
WHEREAS, graduating from Tulane University with a degree in business, Mr.15
Goldring has had a very successful career as the third generation to go into the business that16
his grandfather, Newman Goldring, founded in 1898; and17
WHEREAS, Mr. Goldring is the chairman of the Sazerac Company, a distilling18 SCR NO. 47

company that owns and manufacturers approximately two hundred brands of spirits, and1
Crescent Crown Distributing Company, a beer wholesaler; and2
WHEREAS, while many of his cohorts are beginning to settle into retirement, Bill3
is ready to carry out his vision for his future and continue to make a difference in his4
community; and5
WHEREAS, Mr. Goldring is married to Jane, and is the proud father of three children6
and has four loving grandchildren; and7
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,8
and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the talents and9
contributions of people like William Goldring; and10
WHEREAS, Mr. Goldring is an inspiration to his fellow citizens because of his11
generosity and for the contributions he has made in his career of extraordinarily effective12
community service, and he merits the highest commendation and sincere congratulations for13
his exemplary service and for the tremendous pride and honor he brings to his family,14
friends, colleagues, and the state of Louisiana.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16
commend William Goldring upon being selected as the recipient of the Times-Picayune17
Loving Cup for 2011, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding18
achievements and singular contributions, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for19
continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to21
William Goldring.22
