Commends the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association and designates May 17, 2012, as the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association Day at the Louisiana State Capitol. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (LFAPA) for its2 outstanding achievements and to designate Thursday, May 17, 2012, as Louisiana3 Foster and Adoptive Parent Association Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.4 WHEREAS, LFAPA is the principal membership organization in Louisiana5 representing foster and adoptive parents throughout the state; and6 WHEREAS, LFAPA's mission is to empower foster and adoptive parents and the7 children in their care by providing communication, support, training, and advocacy services;8 and9 WHEREAS, LFAPA's vision statement is: "Every foster and adoptive family in10 Louisiana will have a support system to call upon to strengthen family relationships, restore11 enthusiasm, and to create a sense of empowerment when parenting a foster or adoptive12 child."; and13 WHEREAS, foster and adoptive parents in Louisiana consistently aspire to and14 wisely apply the principles of good parenting, excellence, caring, ethics, respect,15 communication, accountability, and work together with other professionals in the child16 welfare system to achieve optimal nurturing, childcare and functional family structure to the17 neglected and abused children in the foster care system; and18 SCR NO. 64 SLS 12RS-2191 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the dedication of the men and women of LFAPA has promoted public1 awareness concerning the roles of foster and adoptive parents by making a significant and2 positive difference in communities throughout the state; and3 WHEREAS, in recognition of the National Foster Care Month, the Louisiana Foster4 and Adoptive Parent Association is celebrating another annual legislative day at the capitol5 on Thursday, May 17, 2012; and6 WHEREAS, the dedicated members of LFAPA merit a sincere measure of7 commendation from the citizens of Louisiana.8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby9 commend the members of the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association for their10 outstanding achievements, does hereby acknowledge and record for posterity their11 unwavering commitment to excellence in serving the state's children, does hereby extend12 enduring appreciation for the pride and honor they bring to the state of Louisiana, and does13 hereby designate Thursday, May 17, 2012, as Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent14 Association Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the16 president of the Louisiana Foster and Adoptive Parent Association.17 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Ann S.
