SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 111
BY SENATOR MURRAY 
CONDOLENCES.  Expresses condolences on the death of Louis Donald Neveu.
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2
death of Louis Donald Neveu, son, husband, father, brother, friend and Christian.3
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness and regret that the citizens of Louisiana have4
learned of the death of Louis Donald Neveu, affectionately known as "Dockey" to his friends5
and family; and 6
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu was one of seven children born to the union of7
Fortunet and Elva Neveu; and8
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu, served four years in the military as Sergeant First9
Class for twenty-three months in the Southwest Pacific during World War II, and after10
returning home from the war he joined the United States Postal Service and retired in 1982,11
after thirty-five years of service; and12
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu was best known for his athletic skills and service13
to his community as a coach of young people throughout the city of New Orleans.  He14
received all-district, all-city, and all-state awards in three of his high school athletic15
endeavors (football, basketball and baseball); and16
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu was a founding member of the Gentilly Warriors17
Association in which hundreds of boys and girls honed both their athletic and interpersonal18 SR NO. 111

social skills under his supervision; and1
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu also served as a sports broadcaster for many years2
and is remembered as a co-commentator of high school and other athletic events; and3
WHEREAS, he was also an avid bridge card player who often placed among the top4
players in local duplicate bridge play; and5
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu was a dedicated parishioner to his parish Church6
of Epiphany, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Epiphany". Before Hurricane7
Katrina, he would open the church daily and prepare the altar for Mass, funerals and other8
services; and9
WHEREAS, Louis Donald Neveu was also named Holy Name Society's Man of the10
Year and was awarded the St. Louis Medallion from Archbishop Philip Schulte as a Catholic11
community leader and role model.12
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana13
does hereby express condolences, on behalf of its members present and past and on behalf14
of the citizens of the state, to the family of Louis Donald Neveu and acknowledges in doing15
so the enormity and importance of the difference that his life's work has made in the city of16
New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.17
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Louis18
Donald Neveu's wife of sixty-six years, Alida Mason Neveu, his three children, Alida Neveu19
Ramirez, Donald Neveu and Wayne Neveu, his sisters Gloria Taylor and Sister Bertrand20
Neveu of the Catholic Sisters of the Holy Family Order and brother, Fortunet "Junior"21
Neveu.22
