SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 128

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Dr. Prem Menon for his contributions and achievements
in medicine.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Dr. Prem Menon for his contributions and achievements in medicine.2
WHEREAS, Prem Menon, MD, is a nationally recognized specialist in the treatment3
of allergy, asthma, anaphylaxis and primary immunodeficiency diseases; and 4
WHEREAS, these medical conditions affect millions of Americans resulting in5
doctors' office and urgent care visits, hospitalizations, lost school and workdays, significant6
morbidity, mortality, and millions of dollars in treatment costs and wages; and7
WHEREAS, Dr. Menon has been recognized by numerous organizations for his8
dedication to his field, including being named as one of the Best Doctors in America by9
Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd., and was listed in America's Top Physicians by Consumers10
Research Council of America; and11
WHEREAS, Dr. Menon has served as the president of the Louisiana State Society12
of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, as coordinator of the Nationwide Asthma Screening13
Program of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, ACAAI, and14
currently represents the Allergy and Asthma Network/Mothers of Asthmatics (AAN MA)15
as their Anaphalaxis Community Expert; and16
WHEREAS, he has been conducting Asthma and Allergy Awareness Day at the17
Louisiana State Capitol annually for the past eleven years to provide information and asthma18 SR NO. 128

screenings; and1
WHEREAS, Dr. Menon has been involved in the training of the next generation of2
doctors by participating in the Family Practice and Internal Medicine Residency Training3
Programs at the Baton Rouge General Hospital and has received recognition as the Teaching4
Allergist of the Year by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and5
its Outreach Award; and6
WHEREAS, Dr. Menon's work in asthma care with the school nurses and students7
of the East Baton Rouge Parish public schools earned him the Recognition Award of the8
Healthcare Centers in Schools; and9
WHEREAS, Dr. Menon's philanthropic work in the field of allergy and asthma has10
earned him the Mother's Choice Award of the AAN MA and the Humanitarian Project11
Development Award of the American College of Chest Physician's CHEST Foundation; and12
WHEREAS, Dr. Menon's overall achievements in the field of medicine has earned13
him the Excellence in Medicine and Leadership Award of the American Medical14
Association.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana16
does hereby recognize and commend Dr. Prem Menon for his contributions to the field of17
medicine and his work in medical education, community outreach and volunteerism.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dr.19
Prem Menon.20
