SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 129
BY SENATOR BROOME 
A RESOLUTION
To recognize Tuesday, May 22, 2012, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the volunteers and members of the
Louisiana YMCAs and to recognize Tuesday, May 22, 2012, as YMCA Day in Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, the commitment of the YMCA is to nurture the potential of kids,
promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility,
unite citizens as a movement and guide individuals' behavior, interactions with each other,
and decision making; and
WHEREAS, in Louisiana YMCAs, more than one hundred thousand children and
adults throughout the state have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow, and thrive;
and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated,
community-based strategies for serving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to
provide developmental programs for children and youth, strengthen families, and mobilize
and coordinate broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet
community needs; and
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs are
meeting in the Louisiana State Capitol with their state representatives and senators to discuss
and exchange ideas on issues facing youth and families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize Tuesday, May 22, 2012, as YMCA Day in Louisiana and does hereby
commend the members and volunteers of Louisiana's YMCAs for their dedication to
families throughout the state. SR NO. 129	ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.
