SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 135
BY SENATOR CROWE 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  To recognize the third Sunday in January as Pro-Life Day
at the Louisiana State Capitol.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize the third Sunday in January, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.2
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the third Sunday in January, as Pro-Life3
Day at the Louisiana State Capitol; and4
WHEREAS, all human life is a gift that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection,5
and each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose6
in this world; and7
WHEREAS, abortion unjustly takes the life of an innocent human baby and forever8
hurts the lives of women and men involved with the abortion; and9
WHEREAS, more than forty pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and10
maternity homes across the state of Louisiana work tirelessly to preserve this great gift of11
life by helping both unborn children and their mothers; and12
WHEREAS, over the past thirty-seven years since the United States Supreme Court13
made abortion legal in Louisiana through the decision of Roe v. Wade, Louisiana agencies14
have saved thousands of unborn children from abortion, and in recent years, they have15
helped the annual number of abortions in Louisiana decrease; and16
WHEREAS, in addition to saving unborn lives, these agencies have empowered17
mothers in difficult situations by providing material and emotional support both before and18 SR NO. 135

after the birth of their child and by encouraging the parents to place their child for adoption;1
and2
WHEREAS, these agencies have consistently offered confidential counseling to3
women and men who have experienced loss through abortion; and4
WHEREAS, these life-affirming agencies outnumber abortion facilities in Louisiana5
by five to one, showing through these agencies that Louisiana is a pro-life state.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana7
does hereby recognize the third Sunday in January, as Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana State8
Capitol.9
