SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137
BY SENATOR JOHN SMITH
COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Hornbeck Hornets on winning the Class B State
Baseball Championship.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the players, coaches, managerial personnel, and statistician of the Hornbeck2
High School Hornets Boys Baseball Team upon its excellence during the 20123
season that culminated in winning the Class B State High School Baseball4
Championship.5
WHEREAS, the Hornbeck High School Baseball Team ended their season with an6
impressive six and two district record and with an overall season record of seventeen wins7
and only nine losses; and8
WHEREAS, this Cinderella story team captured the championship on their first ever9
trip to the LHSAA State Tournament; and10
WHEREAS, Cody Hopkins, Shannon Hale, Morgan Quinn, Lee Williams, Tyler11
Wilson, Gauge Stringer, Ethan Perkins, Collin Richmond, Tyler Dean, Brandon Houston,12
Logan Hughes, Matt Ceballos, Braley Browning, Matt Alford, Jared Knippers, Ben13
Richmond, Shane Hale, Philip Bell, and Allen Beaird, and statistician Stacy Hughes, and14
manager Duncan Williams, finished a season to become the Class B High School Baseball15
Champions; and16
WHEREAS, the distinguished performance of the Hornbeck High School Boys17
Baseball Team during the 2012 season culminated in capturing their first baseball18 SR NO. 137

championship title in school history; and1
WHEREAS, head coach Dustin Smith and assistant coach Charlie Alexander2
concluded their winning baseball season with a memorable victory over the second ranked3
Forest Bulldogs 7-6 in the championship game; and4
WHEREAS, the Hornets credit the guidance of Coach Dustin Smith, and Coach5
Charlie Alexander and the community and school spirit in leading them to their6
championship victory; and7
WHEREAS, the members of the Senate wish to recognize the team for their much8
deserved championship title earned through relentless hard work, impressive teamwork,9
determination, and dedication to the sport.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana11
does hereby acknowledge the players, the manager, statistician, and the coaches of the 201212
Hornbeck High School Hornets Baseball Team on an impressive and memorable season, and13
on capturing their first Class B State High School Boys Baseball Championship.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to the15
Hornbeck High School Hornet's Head Coach Dustin Smith and to the principal of Hornbeck16
High School, Wilkie Richmond.17
