SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 140

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Benny Dronet for 43 years of teaching and 41 years of
coaching at Delcambre High School and congratulates him on his retirement.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Benny Dronet for forty-three years of teaching and forty-one years of coaching2
at Delcambre High School and to congratulate him upon the occasion of his3
retirement.4
WHEREAS, Benny Dronet graduated from Delcambre High School in 1965 and5
lettered in football, basketball, and track; and6
WHEREAS, during his senior year, he tied for first place in pole vaulting at the state7
track meet by clearing twelve feet; and8
WHEREAS, in 1969, Mr. Dronet graduated from the University of Southwestern9
Louisiana in physical education and science; and10
WHEREAS, he began his teaching and coaching career at Delcambre High School11
in the fall of 1969; and12
WHEREAS, he taught science for four years and, subsequently, taught math at Indian13
Bayou High School for three years; and14
WHEREAS, in 1976, he returned to his alma mater, Delcambre High School, to teach15
math and in 1987, he was the driving force behind the creation of a golf team; and16
WHEREAS, Mr. Dronet taught driver's education in Iberia Parish during the summer17
months for twenty-eight years; and18 SR NO. 140

WHEREAS, Mr. Dronet will forever remain a beloved member of the Delcambre1
High School Panthers family for the wonderful guidance he gave his players and students2
both on and off the field and in the classroom, and for challenging them to succeed not only3
as athletes and as students, but as well-rounded human beings; and 4
WHEREAS, the strength and vitality of Louisiana communities depend in great5
measure upon the talents and dedication of educators and coaches like Benny Dronet.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana7
does hereby commend Benny Dronet upon his retirement as a teacher and a coach at8
Delcambre High School after forty-three years of teaching and forty-one years of dedicated9
and highly productive service to Louisiana athletics, does hereby recognize and record his10
notable contributions to his students, colleagues, family, friends, community, and state, and11
does hereby extend to him best wishes for success and happiness in all of his future12
endeavors.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to14
Benny Dronet.15
