SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 150
BY SENATOR HEITMEIER
COMMENDATIONS. Commends Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara
State, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and invites him to visit the state of Louisiana to
promote commerce and trade between Kwara State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and
the state of Louisiana.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara State, the Federal2
Republic of Nigeria, and invite him to visit the state of Louisiana to promote3
commerce and trade between Kwara State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the4
state of Louisiana.5
WHEREAS, Kwara State, also known as "the State of Harmony", is one of the thirty-6
six states that make up the Federal Republic of Nigeria; and7
WHEREAS, Kwara State is known for its peaceful character, its innovation, and its8
strong educational sector; and9
WHEREAS, the New Nigerian Farmers initiative has its home in Kwara State; and10
WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the United States' largest trading11
partner in sub-Saharan Africa, with the Federal Republic of Nigeria supplying nearly eight12
percent of the United States oil imports; and13
WHEREAS, the United States is the largest foreign investor in the Federal Republic14
of Nigeria; and15
WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Nigeria was the United States' twenty-first16
largest goods trading partner with approximately thirty-four billion six hundred million17
dollars in total goods traded during 2010; and18 SR NO. 150

WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Nigeria was the United States' thirteenth largest1
supplier of goods imports in 2010.2
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana3
does hereby commend Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara State, the4
Federal Republic of Nigeria, and does hereby invite him to visit the state of Louisiana to5
promote commerce and trade between the Kwara State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria6
and the state of Louisiana7
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to8
Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, executive governor of Kwara State, the Federal Republic of9
Nigeria.10
