SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 181

COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry for their
individual and partnered promotion of Louisiana and all that it has to offer.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry for their individual and2
partnered promotion of Louisiana and all it has to offer.3
WHEREAS, Tony Chachere's Creole Foods has manufactured wonderful spices and4
flavorful foods which are a testament to Louisiana's rich Cajun culture; and5
WHEREAS, Troy Landry has been instrumental in shining a spotlight on the alligator6
hunting culture in Louisiana through his television show, Swamp PeopleĀ®, on the History7
Channel; and8
WHEREAS, each is an ambassador for Louisiana's tourism industry, its culture, the9
unique cuisine, and what makes Louisiana a state unlike any other; and10
WHEREAS, Tony Chachere's Creole Foods began in 1972 as a retirement hobby for11
Chef Tony Chachere and it is still owned by the Chachere family with Tony's grandson,12
Don, spearheading the growing business and overseeing its expansion into supermarket and13
mass merchandise chains throughout the Southeast; and14
WHEREAS, Troy Landry of Pierre Part is the quintessential Louisianian and makes15
his living in the crawfish industry, buying from local fishermen, and processing and16
distributing throughout Louisiana from November to August; and17
WHEREAS, when September rolls around, Troy and his son, Jacob, spend their days18 SR NO. 181

hunting wild alligators in the swamps of the Atchafalaya Basin; and1
WHEREAS, Swamp PeopleĀ®, starring Troy Landry and his family, is the most2
popular program ever on the History Channel, with the swamps of Louisiana as the co-star;3
and4
WHEREAS, Tony Chachere's Creole Foods has teamed up with Troy Landry to bring5
a new line of sandwich sauces to the citizens of Louisiana that will replace mayonnaise,6
mustard, and ketchup, and add a "kick" into the exclusive fare Louisianians prepare; and7
WHEREAS, ambassadors like Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry8
promote the best of Louisiana, its unique cuisine and rich culture, and emphasize what is9
great about being a Louisianian.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana11
does hereby commend Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry for their individual12
and partnered efforts to promote the distinctive cuisine and the diverse heritage and culture13
that Louisiana and its citizens have to offer to the rest of the world.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the15
president and chief executive officer of Tony Chachere's Creole Foods, Don Chachere, and16
Troy Landry.17
