Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 181 BY SENATOR GUILLORY A RESOLUTION To commend Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry for their individual and partnered promotion of Louisiana and all it has to offer. WHEREAS, Tony Chachere's Creole Foods has manufactured wonderful spices and flavorful foods which are a testament to Louisiana's rich Cajun culture; and WHEREAS, Troy Landry has been instrumental in shining a spotlight on the alligator hunting culture in Louisiana through his television show, Swamp People™, on the History Channel®; and WHEREAS, each is an ambassador for Louisiana's tourism industry, its culture, the unique cuisine, and what makes Louisiana a state unlike any other; and WHEREAS, Tony Chachere's Creole Foods began in 1972 as a retirement hobby for Chef Tony Chachere and it is still owned by the Chachere family with Tony's grandson, Don, spearheading the growing business and overseeing its expansion into supermarket and mass merchandise chains throughout the Southeast; and WHEREAS, Troy Landry of Pierre Part is the quintessential Louisianian and makes his living in the crawfish industry, buying from local fishermen, and processing and distributing throughout Louisiana from November to August; and WHEREAS, when September rolls around, Troy and his son, Jacob, spend their days hunting wild alligators in the swamps of the Atchafalaya Basin; and WHEREAS, Swamp People™, starring Troy Landry and his family, is the most popular program ever on the History Channel®, with the swamps of Louisiana as the co-star; and WHEREAS, Tony Chachere's Creole Foods has teamed up with Troy Landry to bring a new line of sandwich sauces to the citizens of Louisiana that will replace mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup, and add a "kick" into the exclusive fare Louisianians prepare; and SR NO. 181 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, ambassadors like Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry promote the best of Louisiana, its unique cuisine and rich culture, and emphasize what is great about being a Louisianian. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Tony Chachere's Creole Foods and Troy Landry for their individual and partnered efforts to promote the distinctive cuisine and the diverse heritage and culture that Louisiana and its citizens have to offer to the rest of the world. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the president and chief executive officer of Tony Chachere's Creole Foods, Don Chachere, and Troy Landry.
