SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 68
BY SENATOR LONG 
SENATE. Recognizes Wednesday, April 18, 2012, as Shale Day at the State Capitol and
commends the Louisiana oil and gas industry.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Louisiana oil and gas industry and recognize Wednesday, April 18, 2012,2
as Shale Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.3
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and gratitude that the Louisiana Senate commends4
the Louisiana oil and gas industry for the contributions it has made to the economy of the5
state and to the prosperity of its citizens; and6
WHEREAS, Shale Day at the Louisiana State Capitol is an annual event where the7
oil and gas industry gathers to celebrate the abundant shale resources within the state8
including the Haynesville Shale, the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, and the Brown Dense; and9
WHEREAS, on Shale Day, companies in the oil and gas industry from around the10
state offer educational literature, scale models, photos, and videos from the oil and gas field11
to help bring awareness to the industry; and 12
WHEREAS, the oil and gas industry will certainly continue to produce13
consumer-ready resources, create thousands of jobs for our workforce, and remain14
committed to the safety of our communities and the preservation of the environment with15
which we have been entrusted.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana17
does hereby commend the Louisiana oil and gas industry for its contributions to the state and18 SR NO. 68

its citizens and does hereby recognize Wednesday, April 18, 2012, as Shale Day at the1
Louisiana State Capitol.2
