Abstract: Provides that no vehicle shall be equipped with certain wheel equipment extending
outside the body of the vehicle when viewed from directly above which incorporate
winged projections or constitute a hazard to pedestrians and cyclists.
Present law provides that no tire on a vehicle moved on a highway shall have on its periphery any
protuberances of any material, other than rubber, which projects beyond the thread of the traction
surface of the tire and provides for exceptions for certain farm machinery and tire chains.
Proposed law retains present law and additionally provides that no vehicle shall be equipped with
certain wheel equipment that extends outside the body of a vehicle when viewed from directly
above which incorporate winged projections or constitute a hazard to pedestrians and cyclists.
Proposed law defines "wheel nut".
