Existing law authorizes each of the clerks of the district courts to purchase an automobile for
office use after obtaining consent of the governing authority of the parish.
Existing law authorizes the clerks of the district courts of Acadia Parish, Cameron Parish,
East Feliciana Parish, Franklin Parish, Iberia Parish, Red River Parish, St. Charles Parish,
St. Landry Parish, St. Tammany Parish, Tangipahoa Parish, Vermilion Parish, Washington
Parish, West Baton Rouge Parish, and West Feliciana Parish to receive an automobile
expense allowance equal to 15% of their annual salary provided the clerk of court maintains
$300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile
insurance per accident for property damage.  
Existing law requires the expense allowance to come from surplus funds in each of the
offices of the clerks of court and at no additional expense to the state or local governing
authority.
New law retains existing law and adds the clerks for the district courts of Bienville Parish,
Bossier Parish, Caddo Parish, Claiborne Parish, DeSoto Parish, Lincoln Parish, Morehouse
Parish, Natchitoches Parish, Ouachita Parish, St. Helena Parish, and Webster Parish to the
list of clerks authorized to receive the automobile expense allowance.
Effective August 1, 2013.
